NDDC CHAIR: Senate set to confirm Lauretta Onochie’s appointment
Facts have emerged that the Nigerian Senate is set to confirm Ada Anioma, Lauretta Onochie, and other nominees for appointment as Chairman and members of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
This is coming as the Nigeria Senate on Tuesday, at a plenary session referred the nomination to the Committee on Niger Delta Development Committee (NDDC) with the mandate to prepare a report on the nominees that it will further consider for confirmation coming Tuesday, in line with the Commission’s Establishment Act.
Groups and individuals from different parts of the country especially the Anioma area and Delta State in general had started to push for Lauretta Onochie, in a load of publications made since her announcement by the presidency, asking the Senate to confirm President Muhammadu Buhari’s nomination of the Anioma woman for the appointment. The petitioners pointed to the probity and integrity of the President’s Media Aide as characteristics necessary to administer the Commission.
If confirmed, Onicha-Olona-born Madam Lauretta Onochie will go down in history as the first female Chairman of the Commission.
