“With this audit, there’s hope for justice for millions of Niger Deltans who were cheated out of development by their Niger Deltan brothers and sisters,” Lauretta Onochie.

The approval Tuesday of funds running to over N700 million for the Forensic Audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has been amusing some members of the Niger Delta, Presidency and other Nigerians sympathetic with the impoverished innocent people of the oil rich region.

Among these amused members is the Digital and Social Media Aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Lauretta Onochie, who described the new development as strong indication of success in the end as she said, “There’s no killing the beetle!” meaning all attempts to kill the Forensic Audit of the NDDC have finally hit the brick wall.

In a social media comment on Wednesday, Onochie relayed and amplified the message passed during a State House press briefing by Minister of the Niger Delta, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, that the Forensic Audit ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari, on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), will be paid for by the Presidency.

The Presidential Aide, in appreciation of the development, said, “Niger Deltans will forever, be grateful to you, Mr. President” and she inserted that hatchtag #SaiBabaBuhari.

She said, “With this audit, there’s hope for justice for millions of Niger Deltans who were cheated out of development by their Niger Deltan brothers and sisters.”

This was coming as some other Nigerians are still asking why the National Assembly leaders have decided to play games and share jokes over issues that have direct bearing on the lives of innocent people of the Niger Delta.

One of them, who spoke under condition of anonymity, said, “Imagine that the National Assembly did not consider the plight of Niger Deltans a necessity to break a recess for. After they tried to make an easily resolvable issue look complex but failed, they went suddenly on recess. Today we thank God for President Muhammadu Buhari’s Presidency which has stood on proving to them that it is its constitutional duty to probe the corruption in the NDDC.”

Another reaction from the Niger Delta came from Chief Emma Ejiofor, who is Delta State Coordinator for Buhari Support Organisations (BSO).

He said, “The Forensic Audit is the best way forward for the role NDDC was created to play in the Niger Delta. If anyone can unravel what went on there, its President Muhammadu Buhari!”

Samuel Omogor, another son of the region deprived by its fellow sons and daughters, saw the Presidency’s new decision as a good development.

To him, “The fight must go on.”

With only Federal allocation, this Kaduna State has done. In picture.
