SALLAH: Sultan Abubakar, Gov Ahmed, Sen Wammako, others celebrate Eid in Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the new Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aliyu Ahmed, former Governor, Srnator Aliyu Magatakarda Wammako, prayed at the Central Eid Praying Ground in the city, as Muslims in the state celebrated 1444 AH Eid-el-Adha on Wednesday.

They were joined at the Eid ground by top government functionaries and Councillors of Sultanate Council, Sokoto amidst yet another mammoth crowd of worshippers.

After the prayer, the Sultan returned to yet another massive crowd of Muslims who trooped to a sallah event held at the Arcade ground front of the Sultan’s Palace, where he gave his Sallah message to Nigerians, particularly Muslims.

He called on the people to continue to support and pray for the newly installed leaders in the country to deliver good governance to the benefit of the Nigerian citizens.

The Sultan called on security agencies to redouble their effort in the fight against terrorists and other violent criminals disturbing the peace of the country

He called on the newly inaugurated leaders to work for all Nigerians, irrespective of political affiliations, saying politics is over and now is time for governance.

Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Rev Fr Mathew Hassan Kukah, while speaking to journalists during the Sultan’s Palace Arcade durbar, called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure the protection of lives and property of all citizens across the country.

The durbar was attended by Governor Aliyu Ahmed, Senator Aliyu Matagakarda Wammako,  and other dignitaries from across religions and tribes in Nigeria.
