Riyadh summit rejects displacement of Palestinians inside or outside their territories – Final Declaration

The draft final declaration of the Arab-Islamic Summit hosted by Riyadh on Saturday rejected Israeli attempts to forcibly transfer or deport Palestinians inside Gaza, to the West Bank or outside the Palestinian territories.

The text of the final declaration, as published by the Egyptian portal Akhbar Al-Youm, reads, “the complete and absolute rejection and collective response to any attempt of individual or collective forcible transfer, forcible displacement, exile or deportation of the Palestinian people, whether inside the Gaza Strip or to the West Bank, including Jerusalem, or outside its territory to any other destination, as a red line and a war crime.”

The draft final declaration also stressed “the need to release all prisoners, detainees and civilians, to condemn the heinous crimes committed by the colonial occupation authorities against thousands of Palestinian prisoners, and to call upon all concerned states and international organizations to exert pressure to stop these crimes and to prosecute the perpetrators”.

At the same time, the draft declaration emphasized that “the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is the legitimate and sole representative of the Palestinian people, and calls on the Palestinian factions and forces to unite under its umbrella and for all to assume their responsibilities under a national partnership led by the PLO.” SPUTNIK
