Rivers Sole Administrator arrives Government House with Wike’s allies

The newly appointed Sole Administrator for Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), has arrived at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
He arrived yesterday afternoon with some allies of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, while camps loyal to suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, were absent.

Specifically, the Director of Energy Security and former Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Council Area of Rivers State under the Wike administration, Mr. Ojukaye Flag Amachree, was at the Government House directing and clearing paths for the Sole Administrator.
Speaking briefly, Ibas said he is currently meeting with the Head of Service, permanent secretaries and the service commanders to get formal briefings as he sets for the leadership journey.
The Sole Administrator described Port Harcourt as calm, stating that he aims to ensure the state gets back to where it has always been.
He, however, assured me to address the media on other issues of concern later.
His words: “I want to thank you (press) for what you have been doing so far. You are all aware I just got in here and decided to meet with the head of the service and the permanent secretaries and the service commanders to get formal briefings”
“It is proper for me to have something to say to you all thereafter. I assure you that this evening, I will address you and the issues you may want to raise now.
“Port Harcourt is calm; all we want is for the city to get back to where it has always been.”
Meanwhile, the youth wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide (OYC), yesterday, faulted President Bola Tinubu for swearing in retired Vice Admiral Ibas as Sole Administrator of Rivers State.
In a statement by the National President of the group, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, OYC said that the development in Rivers could throw the entire Niger Delta region into chaos.
Okwu said the President was ill-advised into “Placing the interest of one man above the interest of the entire people of Rivers State.”
It also described, as shocking, the swearing-in of the Sole Administrator even when the National Assembly has not ratified the state of emergency as provided for in the Constitution.
They said: “We have always known the President as a democrat; one who fought for the country’s return to democracy, one who even at some point condemned state emergency in the past, but today, the table has turned.
“This should be condemned by all lovers of democracy and we expect the President to reverse it.
The Constitution spells out how an elected governor should be removed.
