Nigeria’s medical directors visit Sultan in Sokoto

The chairman, who is also the Medical Director of Federal Medical Center Abuja, said “all our hands are on deck to ensure provision of health services to people.”

The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar CFR, mni, received a delegation of 113th Meeting of Chief Medical Directors and Medical Directors of Federal Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria, at the Sultan’s Palace Sokoto on Wednesday April 1, 2026.

In his remarks, the Sultan urged health personnel in the country to redouble efforts in the discharge of their duties.

He assured them of traditional rulers’ support for healthcare related programmes and policies.

Earlier, Chairman of the Committee, Professor Saad Ahmad, said that among objectives of the meeting were knowledge and experience sharing for the improvement of public health.

While acknowledging the government’s efforts in the health sector, the chairman also encouraged stakeholders to do more.

The chairman, who is also the Medical Director of Federal Medical Center Abuja, said “all our hands are on deck to ensure provision of health services to people.”

He told the Sultan that they deliberately chose Sokoto for their meeting to serve as solidarity to Dr Anas Sabir, Chief Medical Director of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto for clocking eight years as the CMD.

He appreciated the Sultan and his Sultanate Council Sokoto members for the warm reception accorded them
