The Government of Rivers State says has announced to the general public that all forms of protests have been banned throughout the State. Therefore, it says, all proposed protests under #End SARS Campaign are hereby prohibited.
The government made this announcement via a statement by Paulinus Nsirim, Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, issued in Port Harcourt, the state capital on Monday.
The commissioner said, “Government took this decision because the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had already scrapped the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
“Therefore, there is no need for any form of protest against a Unit of the Police Force that no longer exists.
“Parents and Guardians are therefore advised to ensure that their children or wards do not violate this order.
“Law enforcement agencies are also directed to ensure that the ban is enforced and that violators are brought to book,” he said.
In his own submission, severally posted on his verified Facebook handle on Monday, a media consultant in Kaduna, Mallam Tijjani Isa, said: “#endsars agitators have had their day, the outfit is dissolved. They should be magnanimous in triumph and remain off the streets. Any other push to riot is treason.
“Dissolution of SARS isn’t a win for the agitators. They shouldn’t celebrate. I foresee double the misery for them they would wish it were SARS,” he said.
