Mul’kat Olowo Islamic Foundation, rose from its quiz competition, on Sunday, to ask the governments at all levels to provide support in a way that would foster Islamic and moral standard just like academic performance in Muslim children.
This was contained in words of a founder of Mul’kat Olowo Islamic Foundation, during the foundation’s quiz competition held in Badagary, Lagos State.
Speaking in an interview with The DEFENDER, Abdul-Hakeem Oladele Olowo, called on the government to implement the act of Islamic competition among Muslim students so as to improve Islamic competition in the Islamic realm.
According to Olowo, “This Foundation is set up in other to employ Muslim children in benefiting competition ranging from the Quran and other academic exercises. It is originated as a result of the efforts to our great mother, Mulikatu Olowo, who actually was a submissive servant to Almighty Allah, a responsible and reliable wife to our father and also mother to the children.
“After her demise, we decided to establish something that will continue to be done in her memory, which will be of benefits for the people in the service of Allah. This is the reason we brought this foundation to hold educational competitions for Muslim children and at the end of the day both the winners and the participants go home with prizes. We however also have the other aim of uniting all our family members and this we do based on re-establishing them on the Qur’anic knowledge and making them acquainted with the history of prophets particularly Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and his followers.
Olowo added that,”Islamic education is part of the education that shouldn’t be toyed with because if others can have their own share, Muslim children should have the benefit of the government to intervene into their affairs.
It has come to our notice that, Western (Christian) education has been receiving majority attention by the government, therefore, we want the government to know that this is a multi-religious society and no particularly religion should be rated high above another in term of benefiting from government support educationally.
Meanwhile, different categories of prizes were won by participants in the quiz and Qur’anic competition, attended by many schools in the area.
