President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated former Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Engr. Vincent Maduka, on his 81st birthday.
In a personal letter to the celebrant, according to a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER, President Buhari praised Maduka for what he described as his dedicated and dignified service to the nation during his years in the public service.
He said in the letter, “I am pleased to join other well-meaning Nigerians to congratulate you on the joyous anniversary of your 81st birthday.
“You deserve all the accolades poured on you on this happy occasion of your life.
“The essence of life is not how long one lives but how well.
“I am happy to note that you are one of the most dedicated and dignified public servants on record in Nigeria.
“Throughout your tenure as the former Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), you behaved decently and stayed above controversy, a quality that is very rare among those exposed to the corrupting influence of power or public office,’’ the President wrote.
The President described the media professional as a role model who invested his intellect and energy to the selfless service of Nigeria.
He prayed God Almighty to grant him more good health and wisdom in the coming years.
