President Muhammad Buhari congratulates winner of the 2022 public service integrity award, Superintendent Daniel Itse Amah, of the Nigeria Police Force, in Abuja.
Superintendent Daniel Itse Amah who rejected the sum of $200,000 offered to him to drop an armed robbery case, and followed up with investigations until the culprits were prosecuted, was presented the 4th National summit on diminishing corruption in the public sector, award by the President.
The President in his speech commend the Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Registrar Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for organizing the summit and bringing together all relevant stakeholders.
He continued, “This year’s edition of the Summit focused on corruption in the education sector and on our campuses, which takes various forms: Cash for marks/grades, sex for marks, sex for grade alterations, examination malpractice, pay-roll padding, also known as ‘ghost workers’, lecturers taking up full time appointments in more than one academic institution, including private institutions, lecturers writing seminar papers, projects and dissertations for students for a fee, admission racketeering, amongst others.
And then there’s the issue of sexual harassment, which has assumed alarming proportions.
I commend ICPC for investigating and prosecuting sexual harassment as abuse of power in our educational institutions. I encourage them to continue to do everything to tackle the scourge.
