Preliminary investigation didn’t reveal assassination attempt on Ekweremadu, Police says
*Says suspect arrested in custody
The Nigeria Police has come up with a preliminary investigation report to say that what happened at Senator Ike Ekweremadu’s Apo residence was a case of burglary attempt by two men and not assassination.
In a statement signed by DCP Jimoh Moshood, at the Force Headquarters, on Tuesday, the police said one “Mohammed Yusuf, of no fixed address, but a native of Kaura Namoda, in Zamfara State, has been arrested and is in police custody. One Ali, at large, is wanted by the police.”
The police also said Yusuf, who broke into Ekweremadu’s residence, was arrested at the scene and that they have commenced investigation, after “he volunteered confessional statement, after he admitted to the crime.
“Preliminary investigation did not reveal assassination attempt on Ekweremadu and his family but a case of burglary. However, investigation is still on…”
