Political somersult in Osun as ADC braces to unseat Adeleke in 2026

*Opposition coalition will defeat ruling APC in next general elections - Aregbesola

By OUR REPORTER, Osogbo

As Ademola Adeleke’s defection to All Progressives Congress (APC) on Bola Tinubu’s re-election plans appears to have backfired, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has commenced an aggressive grassroots mobilisation across the state ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State to send him packing.

The opposition coalition party started this with a general meeting in Ileogbo, the headquarters of Ayedire Local Government Area in the state.

The meeting attracted a large number of party faithful and supporters from various wards within the local government, with party leaders charging members to remain committed as the ADC positions itself as a viable alternative to the ruling party.

Several attendees at the meeting expressed their enthusiasm about the party’s direction, describing the ADC as the most credible platform for genuine change in the state.

In the time, former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola has said that the party would defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress in the next general elections.

To this end, the former governor called on party members to work together to achieve success in the subsequent elections.

Aregbesola stated this while addressing members of the party in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Thursday.

The ex-minister for Interior stressed the need for party members to put aside their personal interests and differences and work towards a common goal of taking over power from the ruling APC.
