PDP mocks Buhari, FG over Nigeria Air but slammed by Lawyer
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Friday has asked President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government to perish the thought of trying to use the ‘unveiling’ of a nonexistent national carrier ‘Nigeria Air,’ to deceive Nigerians, saying the electorate know what to do in the 2019 general elections.
The party said it was unfortunate that, having run out of promises without a development project to show, President Buhari and the governing party were now trying to fly a kite to win the support of Nigerians.
In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party questioned the rationale in unveiling the national carrier outside the shores of the nation.
“Is it not comical that while other nations are unveiling and rolling out real planes, the Buhari administration, in a most hilarious manner, is ‘unveiling’ drawings of an airplane, name, logo and imaginary routes of a nonexistent fleet, as our national carrier, in faraway London?
“What President Buhari and his handlers fail to understand is that Nigerians can see through their fraud and lies.
“Apart from drawings of airplanes, there are no structures to indicate that a new airline, billed to commence operation in December this year, is being set up; there are no offices, no recruitment of personnel and no form of ground activity anywhere in the country.
“Does it not smack of pure scam that less than six months to commence operations, the supposed new airline has not even started the process of licensing, even when it takes a minimum of six months for a new airline to obtain Air Operating License and three months to develop its manuals?
“If the Buhari administration is not on a fantasy trip to beguile Nigerians and pave further ways for its humongous corruption, it should have focused on our existing national carrier structures, in addition to three operating airlines, already taken over by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON),” the statement read in part.
In the meantime, the PDP has been slammed for not covering its shame by either keeping quiet or talking sense when it must speak on national development.
A legal practitioner in Akure, Ondo State capital, Barrister Jimoh Saliu, reacting to the PDP’s statement he described very shameful and annoying Friday night, said, only in democratic clime as obtainable in Nigeria that people like those in the PDP including their national chairman and lawmakers can still open their mouths and today despite all the many atrocities and shameful corruption they have committed the humanity in the country.
“If you want to hear my views on PDP’s latest statement, expectedly trying to neutralize our joy over the bringing back in fresher manner the national carrier, I will tell you that it is shameful for the opposition to be predictably identifiable with senselessness all the times. Or how do you describe situations when PDP either claim they own projects which Buhari inherited halfdone or which Buhari initiated and all successfully completed and commissioned? Yet they have persistently failed to also claim they own the killings which in truth are their own projects to get back to power and continue their anti-national unity and development administration.
“It is therefore not surprising when the PDP, this time not even claiming that they own the ‘Nigeria Air’ just being unveiled by the President but are saying doing the unveiling outside the shores of Nigeria makes it a scam. How best do they expect a serious government carryout its programmes and activities? I hope they are not blind to the fact that people who will run the airline are private hands among whom will be foreign investors? Do they also know that the aircrafts are not produced in Nigeria? So, if it is the choice of government to give sense of inclusiveness in the making of the project, why not?
“Now, the more shameful is that, PDP that are up and down condemning Buhari and identifying with all inexistent negativities they have used all possible means to carry out against him and his government are not even talking about ‘why they killed the national career’ and why did they approved and paid so much money on projects they are preventing Buhari from claiming success of and there is nothing to show for it. They now have Olusegun Obasanjo as their political leader but the moment Obasanjo was asked ‘where is the power that you spent $16 dollars for?’ he had run underground only for him to come later and raise false alarm about a frame-up when he knew that he could not escape justice over his and his party, PDP, atrocities of the past.
“We are waiting but in the time, they should stop embarrassing with their falsehood they call playing opposition politics. The PDP politicians have played their part in 16 years of our new 19 years democratic experience. Let them allow the All Progressives Congress (APC) that we used to replace them and who are barely three years in government also do their own part. The good news I can give to you here is that, with what the APC has done in three years under Buhari, we have no reason to listen talk less of believing the junks the PDP are telling us about why Buhari should not claim one successful or not. Thank you.”
