PDP aspirant drags Obaseki to court, as Governor reportedly restrained from participating in party’s primaries

In the meantime, some well meaning members and supporters of PDP within and outside Edo State have sued for calm, as they said it was normal for Ogbeide-Ihama to do what he did but insisted that the party’s politicians are more experienced playing politics than those who are jubilating in APC.

One of the aspirants seeking the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Edo State governorship election coming up in September, Mr. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, has dragged Governor Godwin Obaseki to court.
As a result, a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has reportedly restrained the governor from participating in governorship primaries of the PDP planned to hold on Thursday June 25, 2020.
The Court, presided over by Hon. Justice E.A. Obile, followed a suit filed by Ogbeide-Ihama, who insisted that Obaseki did not purchase PDP form or undergo screening within the time-table schedule of the PDP.
It fixed Wednesday, June 24 as it also approved the motion on notice for interlucotry injunction.
Also joined in the suit were Prince Uche Secondus, Emmanuel Ogidi, Hon. Kingsley Chinda and Chief Derekeme Boyleyefa.
Others were Senator James Manager and Hon. Barrister Ajibola Muraina as well as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

One of the who spoke from Abuja said, “Although the order looks vague, but I can assure you that it will be vacated easily. Moreso, PDP politicians are more experienced and so you should not be surprised when Obaseki not only participates legally but also wins clearly.”
