The conference noted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) stands the opportunity to mainstream well over 10,000 youths in politics and government by fixing the age of councillorship candidates to 30 years and below and the age of chairmanship candidates of local governments to 40 years and below.
The president in his speech noted that he was proud of the work the youth was doing in the administration’s effort to restore Nigeria to an enviable place in the comity of nations.
President Buhari said: “We have removed age barrier with the passage of the Not Too Young to Run Bill and appointment has been guided by equity and fairness.”
He added that, “the conference is very timely coming at a time the party just finished registration and revalidation of our party membership and about to begin congresses starting at the ward level next month.”
The president promised that the outcomes of the party’s youth conference will have a visible impact on the administration, saying that he could not wait to receive its report.
