Ogun Police arrests 3 brothers for killing security guard on Christmas eve

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF)’s guest to rid Nigeria of criminalities has achieved further plus as its Command in Ogun State announces the arrest of three brothers, who allegedly killed a security guard in Abeokuta, the state capital, on the last Christmas eve.

In a statement referenced AZ:5310/OGS/PRO/VOL.6/205 and dated 04/01/2021and sent to The DEFENDER by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspected killers namely, Okiki Mulero ‘23’, Micheal Mulero ‘21’ and Joseph Mulero ‘17’, were said to have been arrested by the Command’s operatives on Friday 25th of December 2020 for beating to death a So-Safe Corps officer, who was on guard duty at OGD Estate Asero, on the eve of Christmas.

DSP Oyeyemi said: “Trouble started when one of the suspects Okiki Mulero, who is a commercial cyclist was denied entrance into the estate for carrying more than one passenger contrary to the rule of the estate.

“This infuriated him and he called his two brothers, Micheal and Joseph Mulero who came to the scene and they jointly attacked the two security guards with planks. In the process, one of the security men by the name Segun Godfrey Barde was hit with a plank and he slumped. He was subsequently rushed to O&A hospital where he gave up the ghost on Friday 25th of December 2020 while receiving treatment.

“The case was reported at Obantoko divisional headquarters by the CDA executives of the estate, consequent upon which the DPO, CSP Sunday Opebiyi detailed his detectives to go after the suspects and they were subsequently apprehended one after the other. They have all confessed to the commission of the crime,” he said.

In the meantime, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and prosecution.

The DEFENDER reports that remains of the murdered have been deposited in the mortuary for post mortem examination.
