OGUN: 2nd phase of retired police officers’ registration for NHIS holds March 22-25
As the second phase of the registration of retired police officers for National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) begins, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has called on affected members residing in the state to key into the process and get registered.
This was according to a statement issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi with reference AZ:5310/OGS/PRO/VOL.6/226, dated 09/03/2020 and copy sent to The DEFENDER on Tuesday.
According to the state command’s spokesman, those concerned would be required to report at the nearest police Area Command Office with their Letter of Retirement and Retiree’s Identity Card from 22nd to 25th days of March 2021 for capturing.
CP Ajogun, according to DSP Oyeyemi, also noted that the exercise would afford police retirees “who are unable to register during the 1st phase the opportunity to do so without much ado.”
“The CP, therefore, appealed to all retired officers within the state to seize the opportunity of this second phase made possible by the magnanimity of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Muhammad Adamu Abubakar and present themselves for the exercise,” the statement said.
DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said in the statement titled, “RE-NHIS ENROLMENT FOR RETIRED POLICE OFFICERS”, that: “In his continue efforts to ensure better welfare for the retired officers of Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector -General of Police, Muhammad Adamu Abubakar NPM Mni has ordered the commencement of second phase of registration and capturing of all retired police officers into National Health Insurance Scheme starting from Monday 15TH of March 2021.
“The exercise which is going to be in three batches is scheduled as follows;
“1. Monday 15th – Thursday 18th of March will cover South East states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States- as well as South-South States of Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross-river, Delta, Edo and Rivers.
“2. Monday 22ndMarch 2021-Thursday 25th March 2021 will cover North Central States of Benue, FCT, Kogi, Kwara, Nassarawa, Niger and Platue as well as Southwest States of Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo.
“3. Monday 12th April 2021-Thursday, 15thApril, 2021, will cover North East State, Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe, and North East States- Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara.
“The exercise is aimed at ensuring that no retired police officer including his/her spouse regardless of rank on retirement is left out from having full access to NHIS services and benefits anywhere in the Country, he said.
