NSCIA mourns Omoti, ex-FOMWAN Amirah, who died at 63
The Nigerian Muslim community under the aegis of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) says the news of demise of Hajiya Amina Omoti, came to it like a ravaging thunderbolt, even as it mourns praying for the repose of her soul in Al-Jannah.
This was contained in a statement dated Monday Sha’ban 23, 1440 equivalent to April 29, 2019 with reference “ADM/SGHQ/017/29/4/19” issued and signed by Chairman of the Media Committee of the Council, Alhaji Femi Abass, copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER on Tuesday.
The Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar-led NSCIA, extolling the virtues of the departed Amina, described her as an exemplary Nigerian female gem who personified a template of decency in all ramifications while alive.
“Her name was Hajiya Amina Omoti, the immediate past National President (Amirah) of the Federation of Muslim Women Associations of Nigeria (FOMWAN). She reportedly breathed her last in Benin City, Edo State, on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at about the age of 63 years and was interned in the same city on Sunday, April 28, 2019.
“A quiet, humble and easy going native of Okpella, near Auchi in EdoState, Hajiya Omoti lived most of her active life in the northern part of the country where she perfectly acclimatized Islamically and linguistically.
“As a highly respected educationist who had produced many promising future Nigerian leaders before she retired as Vice-Principal of Benin Technical College, Edo State, Hajiya Omoti is leaving an indelible mark on the rock of life which will forever serve as a reminder of her exemplariness in conduct and in service to humanity.
“In her lifetime, Hajiya Omoti was not just a unique Muslim wife married to a unique Muslim husband from the same Edo State, she was also a unique mother blessed with unique children who can be trusted with the continuity of decent life.
“Her matrimonial home which stood out vertically in the midst of many horizontal homes of today’s Nigeria remains a distinguished citadel in which many aspiring spouses can learn the act of keeping temperate matrimonial homes with absolute decency.
“Following the sudden demise of her husband in 2016, Hajiya Omoti was so devastated physically and psychologically that her reaction to that demise became an avowed evidence of the existence of some modern day Siamese spouses despite the rapid deterioration of meaningful marriages and qualitative matrimonial homes in contemporary time.
“By virtue of her status as the National Amirah of FOMWAN, and due to her personal equanimity, this upright woman was not only nominated to serve as a member of the 2014 National Confab, she was also appointed as a member of the General Purpose Committee (GPC) of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).
“It was due to her strong dedication to Islam and unrestrained determination to propel FOMWAN to a higher pedestal that she ensured the completion of that Association’s Head Office and Guest Hostel in Abuja during her tenure as National Amirah.
“If certain people are eminently qualified to be leavers of footprints on the sands of time after their demise, Hajiya Amina Omoti is surely one of them and the world of today will continue to pray for a divine repose of her soul with an expectation that the world of tomorrow will chorus Amen to such prayer in perpetuity.
“While still trying to calm itself down with the reality of her demise despite the inevitability of death as human fate, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, under the able leadership of its President General and Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Dr. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, commiserates wholeheartedly with Hajiya Omoti’s family, FOMWAN and the government of Edo State on behalf of the entire Nigerian Muslim Ummah. The Council prays the Almighty Allah to grant them all the fortitude with which to cope with the vacuum she left behind.
“Judging by her activities as a woman leader of unique posture and the enormity of her achievements as FOMWAN’s National Amirah, it can only be concluded that her life was an era which her demise has just brought to an end.
“We are all from Allah and to Allah we shall all return. Inna LiLlah wa inna ilayHi raji‘un,” the NSCIA said in the statement.
