The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended Justices Rita N. Ofili-Ajumogobia and James T. Agbadu-Fishim to President Muhammadu Buhari for dismissal from office.

Ofili-Ajumogobia, a justice of the Federal High Court in Lagos and Agbadu-Fishim of the National Industrial Court, were recommended for dismissal on the strength of petitions against them by the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.

The Director, Information of the NJC, Soji Oye, in a statement issued on Thursday, said the council made the recommendations at its 87th Meeting which was held on 3rd October 2018 under the Chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Nkanu Onnoghen.

He said the council also rejected the voluntary retirement of Justice Joshua E. Ikede of the Delta State High Court and recommended to the Government of Delta State to deduct from the retirement benefits of the judge, all salaries received by him from October, 2016 till date and remit it to NJC which pays salaries of all Judicial Officers in the Federation.

Ikede, according to Oye, ought to have retired since 1st October 2016, but submitted a letter of voluntary retirement dated October 1, 2018 to the council.
