NIREC’s fourth quarter meeting holds in Abuja Tuesday

The fourth and last meeting for the year 2022 of the nation’s top inter-faith body, the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC), has been scheduled to hold tomorrow, Tuesday December 6, 2022.

It will be recalled that the third quarter meeting, zoned to the South West and held at the Continental Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos on September 26, 2022, was personally hosted by Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

In an invitation dated 24th November, 2022 signed by Fr Cornelius Omonokhua, its Executive Secretary, and sent out to those it refers to “partner in dialogue and peace building”, the NIREC informed that the fourth quarter meeting will hold at NICON Luxury Hotel, Area 11, Abuja the nation’s capital, in the North Central zone by 10:00am.

Theme for the. NIREC Fourth Quarter 2022 meeting is “Peaceful and Credible Elections for National Renaissance”.

Information available to The DEFENDER shows that the Abuja meeting, being the last before the general elections, will afford members the opportunity to “attend the ceremony as collaborators in achieving a breakthrough on credible elections and peaceful co-existence in our dear Nation,” the NIREC Secretariat said in the letter.

The DEFENDER reports that the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) is co-chaired by Leader of the Muslim Ummah of Nigeria and Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, and President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), His Eminence Archbishop Daniel Okoh.
