Nigeria’s infections jump by 196 new cases of to 1,728 as deaths hit 51

*Lagos now danger zone recording 87 new cases after two 14-day lockdowns

Nigeria has recorded 196 new cases of Coronavirus, the highest in a single day, with the virus spiking up in Lagos and Kano.

The nation now has a total of 1,728 Coronavirus infections so far.

In the figures released by the NCDC late Wednesday night, Lagos recorded its largest number of cases, ramping up 87 fresh cases, while Kano recorded 24 new cases.

Also, Gombe rakes in 18 fresh cases, while Kaduna recorded 17 new cases of the deadly virus,

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, recorded 16 new cases; Katsina, 10; Sokoto, eight; Edo, seven; Borno, six; Yobe, one, Ebonyi, one and Adamawa, one.

Yobe has become the 34th state in Nigeria to join the league of those infected with the virus, recording its index case.

Only Cross River and Kogi States are yet to record any case of Coronavirus.

“196 new cases of #COVID19 reported; 87-Lagos, 24-Kano, 18-Gombe, 17-Kaduna, 16-FCT, 10-Katsina, 8-Sokoto, 7-Edo, 6-Borno, 1-Yobe, 1-Ebonyi and 1-Adamawa.

“As at 11:55pm 29th April- 1728 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Discharged: 307; Deaths: 51,” NCDC said on its twitter handle.
