#nIGERIADECIDEs: Atiku wins in Osun, pushes Tinubu, Obi to 2nd, 3rd positions
From the 2023 Presidential Election Collation Centre at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has collated results from Osun State with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, emerging the candidate with the highest number of votes from presidential election in the state.
The presidential election was held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 throughout the country.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Collation Officer for Osun State, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, presented this in Abuja on Monday.
According to Professor Ogunsola, who is Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, the PDP polled 354,366 votes to lead the race in the state while All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu came second with 343,945 votes to push Labour Party (LP)’s Dr. Peter Obi to a distant third position with 23,283 votes.
The DEFENDER reports that results, which had earlier been collated and announced at the Osogbo state collation centre on Sundday, was transmitted to the INEC National Collation Centre in Abuja in line with the requirements of the Electoral Act.
