Nigerian Leader, Buhari, sends solidarity message to Boris Johnson, UK Prime Minister

President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has sent a get-well message in solidarity with ailing Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Mr. Boris Johnson.

This came hours after an editor’s note published in The DEFENDER very early on Tuesday expressed a mixed feeling of relief and sadness over the state of things with Coronavirus situation in Europe.

The note expressed joy that confirmed disease cases on the continent was on decline but the joy was cut short by what it described worsening health situation of Mr. Boris Johnson, who the Nigeria-based newspaper said had now been moved to intensive care of London hospital battling the Coronavirus.

The Prime Minister, who had been on self isolation since he tested positive of the dangerous disease, resorted to visiting the hospital Monday morning after his high fever symptomatic of the Coronavirus failed to improve.

Also filled with sympathy and love for the ailing British leader, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari sent his solidarity message wishing him a quick recovery.

According to a statement issued in Abuja, the nation’s capital Tuesday by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, copy of which was sent The DEFENDER, President Buhari prayed for Johnson.

“On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari wishes Prime Minister Boris Johnson a quick recovery and restoration to full health.

“President Buhari’s sympathy and solidarity are with the British leader as he battles COVID-19 personally, and with the British people as their country battles the devastating effects of the pandemic.

“President Buhari prays that Prime Minister Johnson will soon be well enough to resume his great leadership of his country at this most trying time in global history,” Garba Shehu said.
