MURIC condemns alleged killing of Iran’s supreme leader, urges muslim vigilance

By Khubayb Adefaka

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has condemned the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, describing the incident as an act of unlawful aggression and a violation of international law.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, March 1, 2026, the Islamic human rights organization reacted to reports claiming that Ayatollah Khamenei was killed during a joint United States and Israel bombing operation in Iran on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

The statement, signed by MURIC’s Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, characterized the development as “outrageous” and warned that such actions could undermine global peace and diplomatic relations.

According to the organization, the alleged attack occurred at a time when peaceful negotiations were ongoing, which it said sends a dangerous signal to the international community regarding respect for diplomacy and mutual trust among nations.

MURIC further expressed concern that the incident could deepen global tensions and weaken international cooperation based on dialogue and transparency.

The group advised Muslim leaders across the world to exercise caution in their relations with the United States and its Western allies, urging them to reassess diplomatic engagements in light of the reported development.

Within Nigeria, MURIC called on Muslims to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and vigilant. The organization also encouraged continued peaceful coexistence with people of other religious backgrounds, stressing the importance of tolerance, good neighbourliness, and social harmony despite prevailing global tensions.

The statement concluded by emphasizing vigilance as essential to safeguarding freedom while maintaining peace and stability within society.
