MSSN Day at Focus College highlights religious tolerance

By SUMAYYAH ADEFAKA-ONIFADE

The Muslim Students’ Association of Nigeria (MSSN) at Focus College, Okinni, Osun state on Tuesday, celebrated its annual MSSN Day.

The lecture delivered at the event was centred on religious tolerance.

The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Abdulkabeer Akinlabi Habeebullah from Fountain University, Osogbo, who emphasized the importance of harmony and mutual respect among students of diverse faiths.

Mr. Habeebullah’s lecture imparted several key lessons on religious tolerance. He discussed the necessity for students to understand and respect the religious beliefs of others, fostering a culture of acceptance and reducing prejudice.

He stressed the importance of open dialogue and communication in resolving conflicts and building bridges between different religious communities.

The scholar also pointed out that many core values such as honesty, kindness, and compassion are shared across religions, and focusing on these commonalities can unite rather than divide.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from teachers and students alike.

The principal, represented by Vice Principal Mr. Ajala, attended the event alongside Mr. Balogun, who commended Mr. Habeebullah for his insightful and impactful lecture. “Mr. Habeebullah’s talk has provided our students with invaluable lessons on living together peacefully despite our religious differences,” Mr. Balogun noted.

Additionally, Mr. Sam advised the students to remain steadfast in their commitment to tolerance and understanding. “Being steadfast in these values will pave the way for a more harmonious and respectful society,” he said.

The MSSN Day at Focus College has once again underscored the importance of religious tolerance and the role of education in fostering a peaceful, inclusive society.
