Moonsighting: Sultan declares Tuesday February 25 as Rajab 1

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared today Tuesday 25th February 2020 as the first day of Rajab 1441 After Hijrah.

Rajab is sixth on the Islamic calendar year and signifying that the Islamic world has sixty days before Ramadan and 122 before Hajj/Eidul Adha.

A statement issued by the council as signed by its Chairman Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Professor Sambo Wali Junaid, said the declaration was sequel to receipt of reports of sighting the Rajab crescent from various moon sighting committees across the country.

It added that having approved the reports, the Sultan declared today tuesday the first of Rajab 1441 After Hijrah.
