Military ambushes Boko Haram near Sambisa forest, kills many

Troops of the 151 Battalion of 21 Brigade Nigerian Army have ambushed some Boko Haram terrorists who were attempting to cross into the Sambisa forest, along BOCOST-Bama road in Bama Local Government Area of the state and killed many of them.

Army Spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, said in a statement distributed to newsmen in Maiduguri on Sunday by Col. Kingsley Samuel, that on Friday, the troops, under the Operation Lafiya Dole, had killed a large number of insurgents, while other terrorists escaped with wounds wound.

He also said that on the same day, the troops, in furtherance of blockade and clearance operations DEEP PUNCH II and their resolve to rout out the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists hibernating in some areas, ambushed a group of unsuspecting Boko Haram terrorists along Banki-Bula Yobe road in Bama LGA.

The troops sprung the ambush on the terrorists and recovered four bicycles, some mechanical tools aiding the terrorists vehicle movement, clothes and explosive wires  from the ambush site.

He said the  troops had rescued a 6-year-old boy and recovered  several items which included eight bicycles, blankets, Jerricans,  plates, mats, spanners, cutlasses, clothes, and a pair of Boko Haram terrorists Special Forces Uniform.
