“Finally, those responsible for circulating this misleading video and falsely attributing it to Governor Aiyedatiwa should conduct proper fact-checks and desist from such cheap blackmail.”

A video in circulation, which purportedly creates the impression that an average age man having scuffle with his spouse in it is Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is fake, Ondo State Government House, Alagbaka, Akure has said.

The refutation was done through a statement by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Strategic Communication, Comrade Allen Sowore, Esq, dated October 12, 2024 and copy of which was obtained by The DEFENDER.

The development, according to checks by this globalised online newspaper, confirms the extent politicians in South West Nigerian state can go to destroy fellow indigenes in the name of struggling for political office in election.

Sowore said the fact that opposition parties could circulate a make-belief video, though full of untrue features, to tarnish reputation of the Governor because of politics is evidence they are jittery.

Governor Aiyedatiwa is standing as Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 16, 2024 election.

“As preparations for the November 16th, 2024 Ondo State Governorship Election intensify, it is becoming evident that the incumbent Governor, His Excellency Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, is gaining the upper hand.

“In response, opposition parties, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), seem willing to resort to any means, including blackmail, fake news, and falsehoods, to tarnish the Governor’s image,” Comrade Allen Sowore debunked the fake news and video as, according to him, the man in not Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

In the statement titled, “The Circulation of a Female Abuser’s Video to Tarnish Governor Aiyedatiwa’s Reputation is Propaganda Taken Too Far”, the SSA not only debunked but also provided proofs for the public to spotb the differences between the man in the mischievous video and the real image of the governor.

He said, “The latest tactic involves the circulation of a video showing an average age man engaged in a domestic scuffle with his spouse. The malicious intent behind sharing this scandalous clip is to damage the reputation of Governor Aiyedatiwa, who is also the APC candidate.

“For the benefit of the unsuspecting public who may be swayed by the video at first glance, it is crucial to clarify that the man in the video is not the Governor of Ondo State. A closer examination of the video reveals several striking differences:

“1. Facial Hair: Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa no longer wears that type of beard, unlike the individual in the clip. The Governor changed his appearance over a year ago.

“2. Diastema: The man in the video has a noticeable gap between his upper and lower teeth (diastema). Governor Aiyedatiwa does not have this feature.

“3. Voice: The man in the video speaks loudly, and his voice is distinctly different from Governor Aiyedatiwa’s vocal tone.

“4. More importantly, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has never worked in the United Kingdom at any point in his life, as implied in the conversation from the video.

“5. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has an oval face while the individual in the video has a round face.”

He asked the public “to carefully examine the video and notice these clear distinctions before arriving at the erroneous conclusion that the man in the video is Governor Aiyedatiwa.

“Finally, those responsible for circulating this misleading video and falsely attributing it to Governor Aiyedatiwa should conduct proper fact-checks and desist from such cheap blackmail.

“The members of the PDP, who have been circulating this video surreptitiously to paint the Governor in a bad light, should cease their efforts and focus instead on addressing their party’s own issues. Àwon alairikanse.”

In the meantime, some respondents  who asked be simply identified as concerned indigenes, have revealed that not only politicians are involved in the ongoing blackmailing of the governor but that there are some other elements hiding under politics.

They, however, vowed to deliver victory for the governor at the next month election.

According to them, “Whereas technology is being used to advance the course of development in other climes, sadly in this part of the world, our people are using it to create make-belief imagery of people of honour in order to bring them down. Never mind Mr. Governor, we will expose them all and all Nigerians will see their shame in the market square becauseyou are man of peace and a good leader. We shall deliver victory of next month election for you,  by God’s grace.”
