Look out for new moon of Rajab 1442AH, Sultan tells Muslims

The Sultan of Sokoto and Leader of Muslims in Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has asked the Islamic faithful to look out for the new moon of Rajab 1442AH from Friday February 12, 2021.
This directive was contained in a statement issued and signed by Wazirin Sokoto and Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council in the Seat of Caliphate, Professor Sambo Junaidu, on Thursday 12, 2021.
“This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that Friday, Feb. 12, which is equivalent to 29th day of Jumada al-akhir 1442AH shall be the day to look for the new moon of Rajab 1442AH.
“Muslims are therefore requested to start looking for the new moon on Friday and report its sighting to the nearest District or Village Head for onward communication to the Sultan,’’ Professor Junaidu said.
The Sultan prayed for all Muslims, for Allah’s help in the discharge of their religious duty.
The DEFENDER reports if the new moon of Rajab that is seventh month of the Islamic calendar, is cited this Friday, it means Saturday February 13 will be 1st Rajab abd Muslims will be ussured into one of the four sacred months in Islam, which is followed sequentially by Sha’aban the eighth month and then the compulsory fasting month of Ramadan, which is the ninth month of the Islamic year.
