LAST PICTURE WITH THE ICON – FEMI ADESINA

By BASHIR ADEFAKA

If you know Femi Adesina, the Igbo chief son of Ipetumodu Kingdom of Osun State that President Muhammadu Buhari thanked upon return from his never experienced sicked abroad for “holding fast against the mischief makers”, here he is. The editorial apostle of bomb journalism, Adesina, served the nation diligently as Special Adviser to the enigmatic President on Media and Publicity for the whole of the time he spent in office between 2015 and 2023. Beautifully, two years office, Chief Femi Adesina, like others from within the government and outside of it along who he worked with Buhari, refused to take the crass that has been spread against the president and here is what he calls the last photo he took with the icon. Excerpts:

Description of image
The last picture of Mr Femi Adesina with his boss President Muhammadu Buhari (2015-2023), taken in the Angwa Sarki Musulumi GRA, Kaduna residence of the former leader on March 17, 2025.

“On March 17, 2025, I was at the Kaduna home of President Muhammadu Buhari, to welcome him to the former capital of the Northern region. He had recently moved from Daura, in Katsina State, to the famous Crocodile City.

“I asked how he was doing, and he said he was okay, since he was now free of the burden of Nigeria. General laughter.

“We discussed many pertinent issues about our country, and I stayed till the following day before taking my leave. I didn’t know it was the last time I would see him alive.

“About two weeks later, the unique and iconic man went to London for what was thought to be routine medical check up. He never came back alive. Sad. Painful.

“He was buried on Tuesday, July 15 in Daura, Katsina State.

“My tribute to my boss and senior friend is cooking. Coming soon. In hours, not days,” said Femi Adesina via his Facebook page on Thursday July 17, 2025.

*Watch-out for our next publication of his tribute in The DEFENDER Newspaper
