Kwankwaso not your mate, stop insulting him, Hon AbdulMumin Jubrin warns Doguwa

The Member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency Kano in the House of Representatives, Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has gave stern warning to member representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Constituency, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, to stop insulting the National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Doguwa, in a viral video recently, was seen attacking Senator Kwankwaso and his followers in Kano State.

But reacting at a rally of 5,000 supporters from all the units of his constituency organized for distribution of fertilizer and forms for N150,000 cash grant to 1,000 households, distribution of 200 solar street lights and sharing of job offers to youths of his constituency in his country home of Kofa on Wednesday, Hon Jibrin warned Doguwa to focus on his legislative duties where there is so much to do and stop uttering reckless comments on Kwankwaso, saying the former Kano Governor is not his mate in every ramification.

This was captured in a statement by Sani Ibrahim Paki, Media Aide to the Honourable Member dated July 31, 2024

According to Jubrin, “I want to warn Alhassan Ado Doguwa to stop attacking our leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso because we rever him and respect him as mentor, Leader and father. We don’t insult their leaders, they shouldn’t be insulting ours.

“It is surprising that Doguwa, who few months back was heard publicly showering praises on Kwankwaso, is now coming back to attack him. It clearly shows that it is such a contradiction unbefitting of a ranking member of the House of Representatives. So, let me warn him for the last time to desist from that, otherwise, we won’t hesitate to take appropriate action on him.

“It is not in our character to insult anyone, but we won’t sit down and watch someone insult our leaders,” Hon Jibrin added.

The honourable member also extended similar warning to people like Doguwa who also attack Kano Governor to stop as they will do everything within their powers to defend Kwankwaso, the Governor and government of Kano state, the NNPP and Kwankwasiyya supporters in Kano state and beyond.

He stressed that the banner that Doguwa carries on his head, that he was with Kwankwaso in the House of Representatives in 1992, is a false basis of comparison and an insult to the person of Kwankwaso.

“Kwankwaso had worked for 17 years in the state civil service and has earned his masters and was proceeding with his PhD before running for the House of Representatives in a competitive primary and general election. It was his competence and capacity that led to his election as the Deputy Speaker of the House. Even as the former presiding officer in the House of Representatives 32 years ago, Doguwa should show respect to Kwankwaso,” Hon Jibrin added.

The member also said Kwankwaso went to win election to constitutional conference, served as two term Governor of Kano state, Minister of Defence, envoy to Sudan and Darfur, board member NDDC, a Senator, was twice Presidential aspirant, and now the National Leader of NNPP. Doguwa must show respect.

The member also disputed the impression Doguwa tried to create that Kwankwaso is inciting protest and protesters is far from the truth as former the Governor has clearly made his position known.

“As a statesman, Kwankwaso counseled those aggrieved to wait and use their power of vote to show grievance, when the time comes. That is the position of Kwankwaso and it is in the public domain,” Jibrin explained.

He however said people are free to protest, but it should be done within the confines of the law.

Hon Jibrin also emphasized that Kano south is, and will continue to remain a stronghold of NNPP and Kwankwasiyya movement.

He reinstated his absolute support to the Governor and government of Kano state and emphasised that the new emirates law is a reflection of the wish of the people of Kano South and Kano state as a whole.

He urged people, whether the NNPP or opposition to be mindful of their action because there is a government in the state whether they like it or not.

He also informed the constituents that he has restored his Kiru/Bebeji special intervention fund, which he closed due to mismanagement by some leaders in the past, where he announced injection of 10 million Naira that will be used for repair of all spoilt boreholes across his constituency.

At the event, Hon Jibrin said both the N150,000 cash grant for the 1,000 households and the fertilizer are the interventions of the Federal Government.

He therefore thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Tajuddeen Abbas, for initiating and facilitating the interventions.

The event is the second of its kind in a space of 10 days where the lawmaker organized empowerment program and hosted clerics for prayers. During the meeting, clerics also offered special prayers to Kwankwaso, Kano state Governor and government, Kwankwasiyya movement and Nigeria as a whole.

The event had in attendance the Member, Kano State House of Assembly representing Kiru, Abubakar Tasiu Rabula, that of Bebeji, Ali Mohammed Tiga and leaders, women and youths of the constituency.
