Know your new Commissioners as Sokoto State indigenes, resident communities – SPECIAL REPORT

Some weeks back, it came into the news that Governor of Sokoto State, Rt. Honourable Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, released names of his cabinet members for onward screening and confirmation of the State House of Assembly.  In doing that, the governor expressed confidence that the new cabinet members would deliver satisfactory service to the people and then prayed that Allah would guide them in their new tasks.

Precisely on Thursday June 27, Governor Tambuwal allocated portfolios to the then would-be cabinet members as new commissioners in the state, according to a statement by his Director-General, Media and Public Affairs, Mallam Abubakar Shekara.

Below is the full list of commissioners and their ministries:

  1. Hon. Muhammad Arzika Tureta: Ministry of Agriculture
  2. Hon. Usman Sulaiman Danmadamin-Isa: Ministry for Rural Development
  3. Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki: Ministry of Finance
  4. Hon. Abdulkadir Jeli Abubakar III: Ministry of Home Affairs
  5. Prof. Aisha Madawaki Isah: Social Welfare and Community Development
  6. Hon. Abdullahi Maigwandu: Ministry of Religious Affairs
  7. Prof Abdulkadir Junaidu: Animal Health and Fisheries
  8. Hon. Bello Abubakar Gwuiwa: Basic and Secondary Education
  9. Dr. Shehu Kakale: Budget and Economic Planning
  10. Hon. Mohammed S. Arewa: Culture and Tourism
  11. Bashir Gidado: Commerce and Trade Development
  12. Sagir Attahiru Bafarawa: Environment
  13. Prof Bashir Garba: Higher Education
  14. Dr. Mohammed Ali Inname: Health
  15. Hon. Isa Bajini Galadanci: Information and Orientation
  16. Hon. Sirajo Marafa Gatawa: Land and Housing
  17. Dr. Kulu Haruna: Science and Technology
  18. Col. Moyi Garba Rtd: Careers and Security Matters
  19. Hon. Bello Bala Bodinga: Youths and Sports Development
  20. Hon. Kulu Sifawa: Women and Children Affairs
  21. Hon. Umar Bature: Water Resources
  22. Hon. Engnr Salihu Maidaji: Works
  23. Hon. Sani Bunu Yabo: Establishment and Service Matters
  24. Hon. Bello Aliyu Goronyo: Solid Minerals
  25. Hon. Aliyu Balarabe Dandinmahe: Energy and Petroleum Resources
  26. Ministry for Local Government to be overseen by His Excellency, Hon. Munir Muhammad Dan’iya, Deputy Governor of Sokoto state.

The DEFENDER gathered that Governor Tambuwal appointed the immediate past Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Sa’idu Umar, as new Secretary to the State Government (SSG). The development was contained in a statement released by Malam Abubakar Shekara, the Director General, Media and Public Affairs to the Governor on Thursday, June 6 in Sokoto.

Noticeably, former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki, who is now the Commissioner for Finance in the State, represented Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency in the Nigeria’s Federal House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019.

He studied Economics at the University of Abuja, following his education at the Nigerian Defence Academy and Nigerian Military School, Zaria.
