KAURA NAMODA: Army officer-turned Emir marks fifth anniversary in Zamfara, harps on peace, unity

As part of outlined programmes to mark his fifth year anniversary as Sarkin Kiyawa, the Emir of Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, His Royal Highness Major (Dr) Sanusi Mohammed Ahmad Asha, has organised a one day lecture themed, “First Royal Seminar – Traditional Rulers and the Community Development”.

Five papers presented during the lecture had the first titling “Importance of Culture in Hausa Community”, presented by Emir of Mafara, His Royal Highness Muhammad Barmo, the second paper centering on “The role of traditional rulers in healthcare delivery”, by Dr, Husaini Yakubu Anka.

Other papers presented were those, respectively titled, “The role of traditional rulers in education development”, “Right of leaders to followers and rights of followers to leaders” and “The role of traditional rulers in security architecture”.

Speaking after the paper presentations, the Zamfara State Governor, Dr Dauda Lawal, noted the state government’s commitment to Kaura Namoda’s progress and recognised the significant contributions of its indigenes to state and national development.

Governor Lawal, who was represented by the Head of Civil Service, Malam Yakubu Haidara, said, “Zamfara State is doing everything possible to ensure that all Emir palaces across the fourteen local government areas have been renovated” as, according to him, his government is giving priority to traditional institutions .

He praised the Emir over his five-year reign for its achievements even as he noted how the administration under two years in office improved healthcare delivery system, built roads, reformed education, empowered youths, and addressed security in the Kaura Namoda as a council and as an Emirate.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the Emir of Kaura Namoda, His Royal Highness Major Sanusi Asha, Khadimul Qur’an, thanked Allah for giving him the opportunity of being able to organise the fifth year anniversary as Sarkin Kiyawa.

He urged all the royal fathers across Nigeria to lead with transparency and efficiency.

The event, took place at the Ahmad Asha Auditorium Hall, Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, had its highlight as including presentation of awards to some Emirs and other important personalities in the state.

The weeklong event that started weekend was scheduled to continue on Monday May 5, 2025 and end Wednesday May 7.
