INEC resumes Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise nationwide

*After launch of online portal

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the online Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise where intending voters can register before they complete the process at a designated centre.

On the INEC portal new voters, as of Monday, can pre-register while those who have registered in the past can access the platform to review their voter registration status.

Some of the features on the portal includes the ability to update personal information or transfer voter registration to another polling unit.

Registered voters can also request for replacement of damaged or defaced Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVC) on the portal.

Meanwhile, new voters are only required to fill the forms on the portal with their biodata and required documents, after which they are expected to visit an INEC state or local government office.

At the INEC offices, which they can visit from July 19, they will be requested to provide fingerprints to complete the registration.

Following the commencement, important areas to be notably taken care of by the CVR will be a particular set of people are are encouraged to take part in the important process.  They are:
“1. All those that became 18 years and above after the last INEC Registeration excercise; 2. Any registered Voter who has issue or issues with accreditation and voting during the last election exercise; 3. Any Voter who wants to transfer his or her PVC from one location to another (ie from Abuja to Anambra or from Lagos to Abuja as the case may be); 4. Any registered Voter whose Permanent Voters Card (PVC) is Damaged or Lost; and 5. Any registered Voter who wants to correct his or her name in the case of wrong spelling,” The DEFENDER gathered.
