ZAMFARA: INEC declares Aliyu Bilbi winner of central senatorial seat

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Zamfara central senatorial seat, and Gusau/Tsafe and Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal constituencies.

The PDP candidate who is the former minister of Information, Aliyu Ikira Bilbi was declared winner of the Zamfara Central senatorial seat, while Kabiru Amadu, and Engineer Suleiman Abubakar Gummi won the House of Representatives seats for Gusau/Tsafe and Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal constituencies, respectively.

Bilbis defeated his closest rival, Sen. Kabiru Garba Marafa of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In his presentation, the Returning Officer of the Zamfara central senatorial district, Prof. Kabiru Abdullahi of Federal University Gusau, Bilbis scored 102,866 votes to defeat Marafa who polled 91,216 votes.

“Aliyu Ikira Bilbis of PDP, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest votes is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Prof. Abdullahi declared.

In the same vein, the PDP candidates for the House of Representatives seat for Gusau/Tsafe and Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal constituencies, were declared winners.

While Kabiru Amadu won the Gusau/Tsafe Federal constituency seat with 63,589 votes to defeat the former Speaker of the state House of Assembly Sanusi Garba Rikiji of the APC who got 52,495 votes, Engr. Gummi won the Gummi/Bukkuyum federal constituency seat with 35,664 votes to defeat Ahmed Mohammed of the APC who scored 35,058 votes.
