Imran Shittu buried amidst tears, prayers in Lagos Muslim Cemetery
Former official of Learnards Industries Limited and father of Hajia Basirat Shittu-Adefaka, Manager Administration of The DEFENDER Newspaper, Alhaji Imran Shittu Awosanya, who died in the early hours of Saturday, has been buried.
He was buried in an Islamic funeral rite that began after Zuhr (2.00pm) with Janazah prayers at his 31 Oba Amusa Avenue, Ikotun, Lagos residence and ended with interment at the Muslim Cemetery, Isasi, Ojo in the Centre of Excellence.
Shittu, Imam of a Muslim Mosque Suboh on Idimu-Ikotun Road, Lagos, was born some 76 years at Iperu Remo, Ogun State and is survived along with Hajia Shittu-Adefaka by some six more children including Kabirat, Idris, Risqot, Kazeem, Roqayyah and Moshood as well as many grandchildren and one grandson.
At the cemetery, family and friends of the deceased were admonished against wasteful spending in the guise of celebrating the dead, as the official cleric said it is not only unIslamic but that “it is causing inconvenience for the dead and incurring his wrath assisted by Allah”.
Hajia Shittu-Adefaka, who is eldest of the deceased’s surviving children, had informed that “My father will be buried after Zuhr prayer (2.00 pm) today Saturday”. She is wife of the son of Alhaji Kasumu Adefaka, Galadima of Akure.
Earlier, Prince Bashir Adefaka, a Lagos-based Media Practitioner, had posted on his widely patronised Facebook and Whataspp platforms that the father of his wife was dead.
“He was quintessential Father of my wife. We lost him to death this morning. May Allah forgive him,” he said.
In the meantime, sympathisers who thronged both the 31 Oba Amusa Avenue, Ikotun, Lagos residence of the deceased and social media platforms of Prince Bashir Adefaka have, so far, been dropping their heartfelt condolences.

All prayed that Allah grant him an eternal rest and repose his gentle soul in Al-Jannah Firdaus.
