Imo youths tell Nnamdi Kanu “we don’t need your agitation for Biafra but want one Nigeria”

*Declare support for Buhari, Okorocha

Following Nnamdi Kanu’s visit to Imo state on Friday, July 28, some youths of the state have thrown their support behind the state and federal governments.

They said they were in support of the state governor, Rochas Okorocha and President Muhammadu Buhari and would not support the agitation for secession being led by Kanu.

Coordinators of the various youth bodies, Azunnaya Andrew, Emeka Igwe, GTC Samuel and Jeff Nwoha, who spoke at a press conference, said they condemned the pro-Biafra rally in the state.

Andrew said: “One Nigeria Group stands for oneness of Nigeria. We totally condemn the pro-Biafra rally, which is going on in Owerri now, and which is being conducted by one Nnamdi Kanu.

“Even in the midst of marginalisation, we are supporting the governments of Muhammadu Buhari and Rochas Okorocha. We will not allow them to hold such rally in Imo State again.”

Emeka Igwe who is the leader of the Nigeria Youth Unity Group said: “We are for the unity of Nigeria despite the injustices. We are not ready for war. The event of the Nigeria civil war is still fresh in our minds. These pro-Biafra youths are very inexperienced.”

Samuel, who spoke on behalf of Youth Assembly of Nigeria, said: “These pro-Biafra youths need orientation. What we support is restructuring, not secession. IPOB lacks orientation. Nigeria’s unity is non-negotiable. No war, no separation.”

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that IPOB said the total rejection of restructuring of the country by the members of the Senate was an indication that Nigeria could never be united.
