If Tinubu govt does not stop persecuting with EFCC Nigerians who refuse to join their party, we’re going to declare war – Gov Bala Mohammed

*Wonders how Tinubu govt arrived at conclusion accusing him of terrorism

*Says he is using public institutions like EFCC to persecute opposition figures

*No amount of pressure will force me to join APC – Bauchi Governor

By OUR REPORTER, Bauchi

“The APC-led Federal Government thinks they can use the court, the institution of government like the EFCC to persecute and prosecute Nigerians that are not within their own party. If they don’t stop we are going to declare war,” threatened the governor.

Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, has alleged that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is using state institutions, particularly the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to harass and intimidate opposition politicians, who refuse to defect to his party, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor made the allegation on Wednesday December 31, 2035 in Bauchi while signing the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law.

Mohammed claimed that one of his commissioners is currently being detained by the EFCC, describing the action as politically motivated.

“I was just waking up to an occasion where I was told that I have been accused of terrorism.

“As a governor, someone who is the gead of the opposition, my commissioner has been kept and will not be released by the EFCC,” he said.

He continued that, “Even when I have immunity as a governor, my name was stupendously mentioned in a motion in a court of law in Nigeria—me, Bala Mohammed, who is recognised without …. God is wonderful.

“I don’t have to say anything. I don’t even have to go to public court but, certainly, politics has become something else in Nigeria. But with this kind of man (pointing to his right) and his colleagues, there is still hope in the country.

Governor Mohammed accused the APC-led Federal Government of weaponising the courts and anti-corruption agencies to persecute politicians outside the ruling party.

He accused the APC-led Federal Government of weaponising the courts and anti-corruption agencies to persecute politicians outside the ruling party.

According to the governor, the alleged actions are part of a broader attempt to weaken opposition parties and pressure their leaders into joining the APC ahead of future elections.

“No amount of harassment or intimidation will force me to join the APC,” Mohammed said.

His comments come amid ongoing public debate over allegations that the Federal Government is selectively deploying anti-corruption agencies against political opponents—claims the Tinubu administration has previously denied.

The EFCC has not yet publicly responded to the specific allegations raised by the Bauchi State governor.

The DEFENDER gathered that the latest revelation by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State confirms what has been left to circulate as social media gossip and rumour that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is behind a plot to create a one-party system for ease of his second term re-election come 2027, despite the president’s once denying it.

Although many intelligent watchers of events refused to accept the president’s denial on the ground that he said “…but I love” to see the opposition camp in disarray, beneficiaries from the government’s allegedly selective spendings followed him in the denial game they mistakenly or not call “Tinubu’s brilliant way of playing politics”.

But with the arrest and refused bails for Buhari’s Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN, whose trial has become media based to the extent that even those who claim to know Tinubu by his way, easily fell prey to the media trial of Malami.

It would be recalled how Tinubu sent emissaries consisting of siting governors and APC National Chairnan to his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari, with a singular message of helping him prevail on Abubakar Malami and other other members of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc not to leave the APC to ADC, African Democratic Congress.

The irony, we were told, was that Tinubu while begging Buhari underground to save his 2027 chances also deployed his government members and loyalists who were allegedly paid to dominate the allegedly already bought over main media and social media to destroy his name as a predecessor that left behind a damaged country thus making it difficult for him to be able to fix Nigeria’s security and economic problems.

Buhari, however, promised the Tinubu’s repeated emissaries, one of which was led by Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, that he remained proud APC member but would not be able to do what they wanted him to do obstructing future political decisions of any of his followers.

Since then, Malami, who is the celebrated leading light as decider of political future of Kebbi State, has entered into the problem with Tinubu hence the EFCC arresting him and has continued to refuse him bails until, after several pressures to charge him to court or release him, it recently found charges with which it arraigned him.

Frontline opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar and groups like the ADC have condemned the EFCC hold on Malami as persecution of opposition to favour the interest of President Bola Tinubu.

More critics have also taken swipes on Nigerians, who allow themselves to be deceived by Tinubu as fighting corruption with Malami in the net when he is persistently surrounded knowingly by people with many allegations of corruption and certificate forgery in his government, leaving the insincerity they themselves had talked about and faced Malami in disguise of Tinubu fighting corruption, forgetting that he to go to equity must go with clean hand otherwise Nigeria goes to nowhere.
