Former Rivers State governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has asserted that he stands out as the only Nigerian who has successfully tackled insecurity while serving in government.
Amaechi made the remark while reflecting on his record in public office, emphasizing his administration’s efforts to combat security challenges during his tenure. He argued that his approach and results distinguish him from other leaders who have held similar positions in the country.
The former minister did not provide detailed comparisons but maintained that his achievements in addressing insecurity remain unmatched in Nigeria’s recent political history.
As Minister of Transportation under the Muhammadu Buhari government, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi also highlighted what he described as key achievements in infrastructure development during his time in office, particularly in the rail sector.
He stated that his administration impacted the lives of Nigerians through the award and completion of major railway projects, including the Lagos–Ibadan, the Warri–Itakpe and the Abuja–Kaduna railways.
Amaechi further noted that before leaving office, he approved the contracts for additional rail projects, specifically the Ibadan–Abuja and Kaduna–Kano railway lines, as part of efforts to expand the country’s transportation network.
His comments are likely to spark debate among political observers and stakeholders, especially amid ongoing concerns about insecurity across various parts of the country.
