In further show of competence and wake up to the anti-kidnapping/banditry war in Nigeria, police operatives of the Edo State Command, on Wednesday 23 February, 2022, thwarted attempt by a kidnappers’ gang in Edo State.

They not only foiled the criminal operation of the gang but, also, they rescued their already kidnapped victim, profiled and helped him to continue his journey.

The security agents were said to have acted on credible information about activities of suspected kidnappers, who emerged from bush and started shooting sporadically at unsuspected members of the public plying Ubiaja-Ewohimi Road in Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

During the criminal operation, the criminals were able to stop a Toyota Avalon car with Abuja Reg. No. RSH 585 RR and whisked the only one occupant in it to the bush, while other motorists narrowly escaped with damages on their vehicles, due to the sporadic shooting from the criminal gang.

The DEFENDER reports that on receipt of the information, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ewohimi Division, immediately swung into action, with his mobilized team of police operatives and local vigilante, and went to the location.

Upon arrival at the scene of crime and seeing the car abandoned, the police team immediately advanced into the bush in pursuit of the kidnappers who, on sighting the operatives, opened fire on them.

The security operatives, however, courageously responded to the shootings, which made the suspects to abandon their victim, one Friday John, male, unhurt.

The victim was profiled and asked to continue his journey.
