A Nigerian in the Diaspora America, Barr. Susan Henshaw, has reported that the high prices currently felt in the society are global and that the pain is global.

Henshaw, reporting from the United States America Wednesday, said the problem affects not only Nigeria but also even America, where she lives.

She said, “Food prices have gone up substantially in the USA, rice being one of the items. It has gone up by over 4 percent in the past month alone.

“Also Milk and potatoes, among others. Lets not even mention gasoline (petrol)…which averages about $3.50 (about N1,500) a liter today. In a state like California, gasoline is as high as $4.70 a liter for premium.

“People are trying hard to stretch their dollar and making adjustments to their family budgets. Some are at the verge of being homeless… and I am talking about entire families who have been unable to catch up on their rents, nor can they afford any future rent, inspite of government’s intervention during covid.

“I am sharing this because in Nigeria, some are deliberately or inadvertently making it seem like it is Utopia everywhere, except in our country.

“Times are difficult. Lets try to see what we can change around so that we can weather these hard times which seem so long and unending. Whatever we were going through got exacerbated by the global pandemic.

“We are a strong and resilient people, but unfortunately, some are also very gullible and easily persuaded by political chicanery. We will get there. God bless Nigeria,” she said.
