Haruna Maiyasin removed as Mai’Unguwan Sasa Ibadan

The Sarkin Hausawan of Ibadan Land Oyo State, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ali Dahiru Zungeru, has approved the removal of Malam Haruna Maiyasin as the Mai’Unguwan Sasa a.k.a. Sarkin Sasa of Hausa Community in Akinyele Local Government Area of the state, with effect from Monday October 21, 2024.
The removal order also extended to all the unauthorised traditional title holders he had confirmed.
The sack of the Sarkin Sasa and co was confirmed to the public during a press conference organized by the Council of Sarkin Hausawan of Ibadan Land addressed by the Council’s spokesman and Danmasanin Hausawa of Ibadan Land, Alhaji Yahaya Ali.
The reason for the removal of Maiyasin as Sarkin Sasa was said to be “due to abuse of power and authority, gross misconduct and disregard for emirate laws, creating disunity among Arewa community in Southern Nigeria, especially conferment of chieftancy titles on people illegally because of selfish interest.”
The Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadan Land noted that the continued stay of Malam Haruna Maiyasin as District Head was capable of igniting a crisis in the area, hence his removal.
He added that “we received alot of petitions from various states in the southern region and highly respected community leaders, places such as Agege in Lagos, Arewa Council of Chiefs in Lagos, Ekiti etc.
“I can remember it was during the reign of my late elder brother, Alhaji Shu’aibu Dikko Zungeru lll, in 1983 that Malam Haruna Maiyasin was appointed as Mai’Unguwa otherwise know as Baale in Yoruba Land for administrative convenience with the hope to maintain peace, unity and justice among the Hausa/Arewa in Sasa area only.
“Therefore, it is in line with this and to avoid anything that can lead to intra and inter-communal clashes as we did experience in the past.
“I, Alhaji Ali Dahiru Zungeru, the Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadan Land and all the members of Arewa traditional Institutions have decided to removed Malam Haruna Maiyasin as Mai’Unguwa of Sasa Hausa Community in Eleyele area.
“Over his constant disrespect, unlawful confirment of chieftancy titles on people without recourse to Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadan Land undmm is working directly under him.
“Finally, we advised members of the public to always investigate deeply who want to give you traditional title is he capable and genuine or after your money and please always contact Office of the Sarkin Hausawa of your state or Arewa council of chiefs in your area for verification because we have contact among us. May Almighty Allah bless our state and our country Nigeria, ” Sarkin Hausawa Ibadan said in the address signed by Alhaji Yahyah Ali.
