Gov Matawalle appoints political aids

The Governor of Zamfara State, Hon Mohammed Bello Matawalle, on Wednesday, appointed 1,700 political appointees targeted at ameliorating the effects of rural poverty in the state.

The Director-General Political and Inter-Party Affairs, Hon. Mika’ilu Aliyu, disclosed this while briefing a group of journalists in the state capital Gusau in his office .

Breaking down the number, he said some of the appointees are 25 commissioners, 55 special advisers, 250 senior special assistants, 79 directors general, including several board members and special assistants.

Aliyu added that the governor has appointed another batch of 250 political appointees to make sure that government is brought closer to the common man.

He explained that these political appointees could help reduce the teething rural poverty by using part of their earnings to assist in supporting poor individuals with affordable empowerment financial facilities to support their economic welfare.

“The benefit is enormous to justify the project”, adding that, Governor Matawalle is very committed in strategising ways of upgrading the socio-economic status of the rural dwellers.

Responding to the alleged involvements of governor Matawalle in sponsoring political thugs to organise attacks on oppositions, the DG dismisses this as mare political gimmick to generate unnecessary controversy.

He argued, “how sensible would it sound to allege that an important figure like the governor, would descend so low to sponsor thugs against political opponent as claimed by some political mischief makes calculated at earning cheap points, or provoking chaos.

The Director-General political and inter party calls on the youths to be wary of such crisis-monger politicians whose only means of livelyhood lay on trigering crisis an stay aside to reap the benefits.
