Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, on Saturday, made an on-the-spot assessment visit to the area affected by flood in Uyo, the state capital, with a directive for immediate action.
Governor Eno had posted on his verified Facebook social media network the incident of flood, which sacked a portion of the Atiku Abubakar Avenue in the city and told what step he had taken to arrest the situation.
“Earlier today, I made an on-the-spot assessment of the flooded portion on Atiku Abubakar Avenue, Uyo, to assess the situation firsthand.
“The waterlogged area requires immediate intervention, and I have instructed the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency, Prince Akpan Ikim, to start the de-silting of drainages on the Avenue and adjacent streets to ensure a smoother flow of rainwater.
“We are dedicated to promptly resolve this issue, as it directly impacts the well-being of our citizens,” Governor Eno said.
