As fuel crisis lingers in Kwara State a teenager has reportedly lost his life in Ilorin, the state capital after purchasing fuel.

The young man was said to have been burnt to death by a fire fueled by the petrol he bought after being involved in a road accident.

The incident which occurred around Zango area of the metropolis on Monday also left another person half burnt.

It reportedly happened when the teenager had bought a keg of petrol from a fuel station and mounted a motorcycle on his way back home.

However, the motorcycle had a head-on collision with a private car in the Zango area causing the petrol to fall off his hand, spill on the ground and attracted a spark from which a flame resulted.

The second occupant on the motorcycle was also burnt severely but did not die.

Also on Tuesday, many students of University of Ilorin living off-campus were subjected to untold hardship as the lingering fuel scarcity made them stranded because there were no commuter buses to convey them to school.

One of the students, who spoke to The DEFENDER under condition of anonymity, narrated her ordeal just as many of the students took to trekking the very long route into the nation’s most sought university to receive lecture.

When contacted for comment, Head of Public Affairs Unit of the University, Mr. Kunle Akogun, appreciatively promised to get back to us on what the management was doing to alleviate the suffering of the students in the area of transportation.
