Friday Khutbah: Ikeja LG Mosque Imam tasks Muslims over good deeds, says Buhari’s decision on June 12, MKO Abiola lesson of Ramadan fasting
“Now after Ramadan, what is next is to ask questions as to what should follow after our having successfully concluded the fasting of the month” because, quoting Abubakari (may Allah be pleased with him), he said, whoever has observed Ramadan fast will be forgiven except who does not want.
The Chief Imam of the Unified Local Government Muslim Mosque, Ikeja, Lagos, Imam Fazazi Misbaudeen Adesina, has urged the Muslims of the country to put the lessons of the just concluded month long Ramadan fasting to practice in the post-Ramadan era.
Imam Adesina, who said this while delivering his Friday sermon, said one of the ways to show that one has put lessons of Ramadan fast to practice was what President Muhammadu Buhari displayed in his pushing behind the ugly past between him and late Alhaji Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola and honouring him with the highest honour of GCFR and declaring the June 12 as Democracy Day to immortalize him.
Imam Misbaudeen Adesina, who is also National Public Relations Officer (PRO), Alumni Association of the MKO Abiola’s Suliqah Abiola Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Abeokuta, Ogun State, said urged Muslims should learn to forgive if they want Allah to continue to show His mercy upon them in the post-Ramadan era, adding that it was a great way to prove that Ramadan fasting really worked for President Buhari that he won a battle over his own soul by declaring publicly to apology on behalf of Nigeria’s Government to the Abiola’s family over the annulment of his June 12, 1993 presidential elections victory.
He said for the years he was students in Abiola’s institute he and his classmate paid no fees.
Speaking in the sermon, the Imam said the best and most truthful of speakers is one who speaks from the Qur’an being that in the whole of it, there is no single ambiguity and that it is the perfect word of the most perfect Allah.
He said next to that is he that speaks based on the facts as laid down by the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The Imam therefore warned Muslims against bid’ah (innovation) saying bid’ah in matter of religion is straying path that leads to no other than hell fire.
Reviewing the just concluded Ramadan fasting, he urged Muslims to put the lessons of Ramadan fasting into practice after the month has gone past.
“Now after Ramadan, what is next is to ask questions as to what should follow after our having successfully concluded the fasting of the month” because, quoting Abubakari (may Allah be pleased with him), he said, whoever has observed Ramadan fast will be forgiven except who does not want.
Explaining further, Imam Fazazi Adesina said, “Abubakari said he who does not want Allah’s forgiveness is he that refuses to drop sins and is not constant in seeking forgiveness from Allah especially after Ramadan.”
He expressed dismay that many Muslims used their days of Ramadan to dance especially in the name of Lailatul Qadri while they should be constant in struggling for the Rahmah that is blessing of Allah over what they have done and plan for post Ramadan activities.
Quoting a portion of the Qur’an to back his sermon, the Islamic cleric said Ramadan fasting is supposed to instill taqwa (fear of Allah) in the hearts of the Muslims so that after the period, they become real fresh, born again.
He said worship of Allah does not end with Ramadan, reminding faithful that Allah has ordered them to worship Him until truth (death) comes unto them.
The Imam further reminded the Muslims to know that while they secure Allah’s pardon, they too should pardon fellow human beings, as according to the him, Allah says they should ask for His forgiveness because His Aljannah is big enough to contain them all who spend their wealth for His course seeing to better welfare of humanity and pardon fellow human beings for He loves people who seek forgiveness of Allah and who forgive others.
