FOMWAN CONFERENCE: Rivers State Governor, Nyeson Wike, hosts Sultan of Sokoto in Port Harcourt

Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyeson Wike, on Friday, hosted the Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Sultan Abubakar, who was received in Ada George, Port Harcourt residence of Wike shortly after his plane touched down at the Port Harcourt Airport, held a close door meeting with the governor.
The nation’s most influential monarch was in the state at the instance of Federation of Muslim Women’s Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN), whose 37th Annual National Conference he was scheduled to declare open.
The DEFENDER reports the Sultan as a ethno-religious personality of global status, who is co-President of World Religions for Peace, headquartered in New York, and has for several years been among seventeen most influential Muslim leaders in the world and fourth monarch in Africa.
His role in ensuring peaceful co-existence among adherents of various ethnic and religious backgrounds in Nigeria and Africa has continued to endear him to great minds across the continent particularly in the country. One of them is Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
