A female Accountant, Mrs Mary Adefolalu, has emerged as the deputy governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ekiti State.
In a statement by the Director-General of Akinloye Ayegbusi Campaign Organisation, Mr Yemi Akinbode, Adefolalu’s choice is premised on the fact that she will bring her vast experience as a civil administrator and accountant to the fore in governing the state along with his principal.
“Adefolalu, an accountant and a career public administrator, hails from Ilawe-Ekiti in the southern senatorial district of the state.
“She is a grassroots and retired civil servant who has spent most of her time contributing to the socio-economic development of mankind. Born in December 1966, Adefolalu is also an entrepreneur who has a good number of private investments in Ekiti where scores of the citizen of the state enjoy means of livelihood.
“The choice of Mary Adefolalu is very accurate; this is a woman that has devoted much of her time into the development of her people. She is a grassroots politician and a passionate Ekiti person who believes that our society can be better than the way we are having it with the current government.
“And with her coming on board, we believe we are building a very formidable team who are set to take over from the current government to take Ekiti beyond this ignoble state and build an Ekiti that everyone will be able to be proud of,” he stated.
“Adefolalu, the Ashaooni of Ilawe-Ekiti, retired from civil service in 2015 as chief accountant, Eti- Osa East Local Government, Lagos State. She is a member of a good number of professional bodies, which include, Chartered Institute of Administration, ACNA, Chartered National Accountant of Nigeria CITN, Chartered Institute of Taxation, Institute of Public Accountant among others.
Meanwhile , the candidate of the SDP in the Ekiti governorship election, Mr Akinloye Ayegbusi has warned against the return of politics of blood bath that have always characterize the political atmosphere of the state in the past elections.
Ayegbusi who sounded the warning on Sunday in a press statement issued by the spokesman of his campaign organization, Mr Yemi Akinbode , said that politicians must learn to play by the rules of the game.
He urged politicians to let their campaign be issue based, stressing that people of Ekiti are only interested in those things that the politician will do if voted into office.
He warned that the current political endeavor does not worth the blood of the innocent citizens of the state who have been at the receiving end of the bad governance of the successive governments in Ekiti state.
“I recalled the politically motivated murders of a prominent indigene of this state in 2006, when one, Dr Ayo Daramola was assassinated on August 14, 2006 at his Ijan-Ekiti home town. There were several other bloodletting incidences that characterized the politics of the past.
“I call on security agencies to be more alive to their responsibility at this time because no one has any right to take the life of another under any circumstances.”
Ayegbusi however wish those that were caught up in the alleged shooting at the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally held in Ado Ekiti to welcome back the party’s candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi back to the state, quick recovery.
