The Russian Defense Ministry said there had been no Russian strikes near the Ukrainian-Polish border
US President Joe Biden told his G7 and NATO counterparts that the explosion in Poland had been caused by a Ukrainian air defense missile, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing a NATO source.
The leaders of the G7 and a number of NATO countries held an emergency meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit earlier on Wednesday to respond to the incident of a missile falling on Polish soil. After the meeting, Biden cited preliminary reports contesting claims that the missile that landed in Poland had been fired from Russia. “It is unlikely in the lines of the trajectory that it was fired from Russia,” Biden said.
The Russian Defense Ministry said there had been no Russian strikes near the Ukrainian-Polish border. The Russian military agency pointed out that the published photos of the wreckage from the incident site have nothing in common with Russian weapons.
A missile hit grain dryers in the village of Przewodow in eastern Poland’s Lublin Voivodeship on the border with Ukraine, killing two people. According to the republic’s President Andrzej Duda, so far there is no evidence indicating who launched this projectile. The Polish Foreign Ministry insisted that it was a Russian-made missile.
