EXCLUSIVE: Adegbite among 60 ‘Distinguished Alumni’ for honour, as Adeyemi Federal University of Education clocks 60

The prestigious institution for the training of teachers in Nigeria, Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, will clock 60 years of establishment on 22nd May 2024.
To mark the anniversary, among series of events planned is mainly an award ceremony by which 60 Alumni members of the university will be honoured, each of them will be decorated with what has been described as the Prestigious Highest Award of “THE DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS” of the Adeyemi Federal University of Education Ondo, in commemoration of the 60th anniversary, on Saturday 25th May 2024.

The DEFENDER reports that this award ceremony, which is being put together to celebrate the historic institution of higher learning where teachers produce teachers, is powered by the “global community of the Alumni Association” in partnership with the University management.
In a letter of notification addressed to one of the awardees, Prince Mustapha Adewunmi Adegbite, sighted by this reporter on Sunday 21st April, it was stated that the 60 alumni members to be honoured have been so selected for having distinguished themselves in their chosen careers and having contributed to the growth and development of the institution.
According to the letter, “Adeyemi Federal University of Education, (formerly Adeyemi College of Education) Ondo, was established on the 22nd May, 1964. The Institution will be 60 years in existence on May 22nd 2024.
“Since its establishment in 1964, the institution has grown to become a foremost Teacher Training Institution in Sub-Saharan Africa, championing research and innovation in education and producing human manpower for the nation’s Education Industry.
“To this end, the global community of the Alumni Association in partnership with the University Management has concluded plans to celebrate 60 Alumni members who have distinguished themselves in their chosen career and have contributed to the growth and development of the institution.
“In view of the above, the Board of Trustees and National Executive Council have found you worthy and have graciously approved to bestow on you the Prestigious Highest Award “THE DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS” of the Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Institution on Saturday, May 25th, 2024 at the Babatunde Ipaye Lecture Theatre by 10am,” it said.
